Alexander Blair landed in France in September 1916 and transferred to the 9th Battalion which was still recovering from its losses at Pozieres. In 1917 the 9th moved back to Belgium for the advance to the Hindenburg Line. On 19 July 1918 in France he was killed in action near Hazebrouck. He was 22.
