Brother of 545 Private Edward Alexander Day.

 

Charles Day transferred to the recently-raised 52nd Battalion in England in July 1916 and arrived in France in December. In April 1918 he was wounded in action at Villers-Bretonneux and hospitalised in England. He transferred to the 4th Machine Gun Battalion after returning to France in September. On 9 November he contracted influenza and was admitted to Abbeville Hospital where six days later he died from pneumonia.
