Christian Gisler arrived in France in January 1918 with the 4th Australian Broad Guage Railway Company. He was killed in action on 21 March 1918 near Peronne and buried at the British Military Cemetery at Fricourt. In 1919 his remains were exhumed and re-interred at Tincourt New British Cemetery.
