David Sharp landed at Gallipoli in May 1915. In September he contracted typhoid and was hospitalised at Malta, then transferred to Birmingham’s Southern General Hospital. He arrived in France in April 1917 and transferred to the 25th Battalion. Twelve months later he was wounded in action near Villers-Bretonneux and died of his wounds the following day.
