Brother of 1435 Lance Corporal John Henry Collins.

 

Ernest Collins arrived in France in July 1916. In March 1917, while at a rest camp at Vaulx he was accidently shot, causing a compound fracture of his left leg. He was admitted to London’s Bethnal Green Military Hospital. After four months he returned to Australia in August, aged 21.
