Frederick Wilkinson served at Gallipoli from October to December 1915. He arrived in France in March 1916 with the 25th Battalion, the first AIF battalion to land there. He survived the horrific battles at Pozieres in July-August and Flers in November. In January 1917 he was wounded in action near Albert and evacuated to the 35th Casualty Clearing Station where he died of his wounds the next day.
