John Beardsworth landed in France in March 1917 assigned to the 12th Field Artillery Brigade. In Belgium in June he was wounded in action that dislocated his left shoulder and invalided to London’s Tootting Military Hospital. He returned to Australia in October and was discharged in February 1918.
