Oliver Croker arrived in France in December 1916. He was wounded in action in March 1917 and invalided to Brighton’s Kitchener Military Hospital, re-joining his unit in June. In December in Belgium he contracted bronchitis, rheumatism and trench fever and was hospitalised in England. He re-joined his unit in July 1918 and three weeks later was wounded again. He returned to Australia in December and was discharged in March 1919.
