Reginald Latchford transferred to the newly-raised 49th Battalion in Egypt in February 1916 and landed in France in June. Eight weeks later he was killed in action at Tara Hill near Albert. He was only 21. After the Armistice his grave was located at the battlefield and moved to Bapaume Post Military Cemetery.
