Dora Sexton was a ‘Probation Nurse’ at Toowoomba Hospital when she enlisted with Queen Alexandria’s Imperial Military Nursing Service Reserve and made her own way to England. She nursed at No 3 British Hospital in Egypt before taking part in the British landings and evacuations at Suvla, Gallipoli, aboard the 600 bed hospital ship ‘Galeka’. After next working at St. Paul’s Hospital in Malta, she was transferred to a military ‘tent hospital’ at Salonika in northern Greece to nurse British soldiers. She returned to Australia in September 1919.
