Stanley Beasant arrived in France in May 1916. In August he was reported missing in action at Pozieres. Eleven months later a Court of Enquiry confirmed he had been killed in action on 5 August 1916. Months earlier his parents had learnt of his death in a letter from one of Stanley's army mates. He was only 20.
