Brother of 2770 Private Edward Richardson (KIA) (not on Roll of Honour).

 

Sydney Richardson landed at Gallipoli with 9th Battalion reinforcements in November 1915. In Egypt in February 1916 he was transferred to the 49th Battalion and promoted to Lance Corporal before embarking for France in June. On 3 September at Mouquet Farm, Pozieres, he was wounded in action with a head injury and a compound fracture of his right arm. He died five days later.
