Tom Wilde was transferred to the 31st Battalion in England in September 1916 and arrived in France in December. In March 1917 he was sent to the 1st British Southern Hospital at Edgbaston with 'trench feet'. In August he re-joined his unit in France. On 26 September he was wounded in action during an advance at Polygon Wood and admitted to the 47th General Hospital at Le Treport where he died of his wounds one week later.
