Peter Hannay arrived in Egypt in January 1915. Following service at Gallipoli his unit spent several months training in Egypt before proceeding to France in late-March 1916. In August he was wounded in action near Albert, France and taken to the 3rd Australian Field Ambulance where he died the same day.
